The Panasonic Hair Dryer Review: Expand Your Hair Horizons! 2020

Blow drying your hair shouldn’t be a fight every day. If you want to sport the best looks, you have to have good equipment. And sometimes you have to look outside of your own backyard or even outside of your own country to find the best. The Panasonic hair dryer is a Japanese dryer that uses the latest technology to protect your hair while you dry. And on top that, they’re absolutely beautiful.

If you have very easy hair that doesn’t require much fuss or muss, then a regular hair dryer will suit you fine. But if you have difficult, unruly locks, you have to look to technology for help. And Panasonic dryers are packed with technology. They boast that their nanoe dryers are even better than ionic dryers to smooth, shine, and protect your hair.

The right hair dryer can be the difference between a lovely day with gorgeous locks and the embarrassment of a dreadful hair day. The four things that you should pay attention to when searching for the perfect hair dryer are wattage, weight, special features, and technology. If you have a lot of hair or if you have long or very thick hair then you’ll want a higher wattage for more power and quicker drying times. And unless you enjoy working out while you dry your hair, you’ll want to look for a dryer that is lightweight.

Some of the Panasonic hair dryers feature a technology called nanoe. According to Panasonic, the nanoe is an “electrostatic atomized water particle.” These nano-sized particles improve the air quality and make hair super shiny and smooth.

The nanoe generators on Panasonic dryers take naturally occurring ions, which are present in the air, and then break them down into even smaller particles held together by water molecules. These particles contain approximately 1,000 times more moisture than a negative ion.

So the Panasonic dryer won’t dry your hair out. The nanoes penetrate deeply into the hair shaft as you dry, making your hair stronger and more beautiful.

Other dryers come with ionic technology which uses negative ions to saturate the airflow, helping to condition, smooth, and make the hair shiny. But Panasonic’s nanoe technology puts even more moisture into the hair than ionic dryers, creating even less frizz and static.

It’s also nice if you can find a dryer with a cool button or setting. The cool button blasts your hair with cold air when it’s nearly dry which seals the cuticle for smooth, shiny hair.

This analysis was an independent review of five different Panasonic hair dryers.

And for comparison, we reviewed the BaBylissPRO Ceramix Xtreme Dryer, the Remington D3190 Hair Dryer, and the John Frieda Hot Air Brush. We have no business or financial ties with any of these companies.

We researched consumer and professional reviews for each product. And during the review process, we also looked at and compared the features of each hair dryer.

In no particular order, here are our favorites from the Panasonic hair dryer line.

1. Panasonic Hair Dryer Nano-Care EH-NA59-PN

31sglnhi0zl-_sl160_-7559288

One unique thing about Panasonic hair dryers is that they’re all gorgeous. The EH-NA59-PN comes in a beautiful pink-gold color. But this Panasonic hair dryer is not just a pretty face. This dryer is also nice and light, weighing only 1.2 pounds.

It’s also perfect for travel because it’s compact and the handle is foldable. And you can use this dryer outside of the U.S., as it comes with a switch that can change the voltage from 100 to 120V (in the U.S.) to 200 to 240V (outside the U.S.). This dryer also features the nanoe technology which makes the hair healthy, shiny, and smooth while cutting down on static and frizz.

And it has medium power strength at 1,400 watts. This dryer also comes with two heat/speed settings and a cool setting.

The Panasonic EH-NA59-PN is one of the more expensive dryers on the list.

One of the complaints about this dryer is that Panasonic makes it in Japan, so all of the instructions are in Japanese. Some reviewers did comment, however, that the shipping time for this dryer was speedy.

  • Nanoe technology makes the hair stronger and more beautiful
  • Lightweight, perfect for travel
  • Fast shipping time
  • Cost
  • Comes with no attachments
  • Only 1,400 watts

The black and pink Panasonic EH-NA65-K is another beautiful dryer. It features a unique design with the nanoe generator located above the nozzle, using the technology to moisturize and strengthen the hair. This dryer is lightweight but a little heavier than the EH-NA59-PN, weighing two pounds.

It’s also quite strong with 1,875 watts of power. This Panasonic hair dryer comes with two attachments, a concentrator and a full-sized diffuser for precise styling. It also comes with two speeds and three heat settings plus a cool shot button. And it comes with a removable filter, making it easy to clean.

Some of the complaints about this dryer are that it is top-heavy, making it a bit awkward in your hand. Others complained that it was not dual voltage, so you can’t use it outside of the U.S. without a voltage converter.

  • Comes with attachments
  • Comes with nanoe technology for smooth, shiny hair
  • Quieter than other dryers
  • Large and bulky, not suitable for travel
  • Not dual voltage

3. Panasonic KURUKURU Hair Dryer EH-KA50-V

The Panasonic EH-KA50-V is a hair dryer and brush in one and is excellent for precise, gentle drying. This dryer doesn’t use nanoe technology, so it is perfect for very fine hair.

It’s hard to get good volume with fine hair when you use ionic or nanoe technology, so this is an excellent alternative. The EH-KA50-V dries the hair gently with just 700 watts of power, making it perfect for drying children’s hair. This Panasonic hair dryer is dual voltage, so you can use it outside of the states.

Another great thing about this dryer is that it’s very lightweight, weighing only 14 ounces. It’s also compact and great for travel. It doesn’t come with attachments, but the brush is removable if you want to use it as a regular dryer. And it comes with two heat/speed settings.

One of the best things about this dryer is the price.

Although this dryer doesn’t come with all of the technology or power of the others, it is an excellent option for people with short, fine hair looking for more volume.

  • Cost
  • Compact and lightweight, perfect for travel
  • Dual voltage so you can use it outside of the U.S.
  • Weak airflow
  • Not as durable as more expensive models
  • Instructions come in Japanese

4. Panasonic Hair Dryer Nanokea EH-NA99-RP

The Panasonic EH-NA99-RP comes in a gorgeous neon pink and features the unique design of the nanoe generator located above the nozzle.

The technology in this dryer allows you to dry your hair without drying it out while making your hair stronger and shiny. This dryer is also lightweight, weighing just 1.27 pounds, so your arm won’t wear out before your hair is dry. It has medium strength with 1,200 watts of power.

And it comes with three heat/speed settings.

One customer complained that the dryer made a funny smell during use. Another downside about this dryer is that it’s not dual voltage so you can’t use it outside of the U.S. without a voltage converter.

  • Nanoe technology protects the hair
  • Fits comfortably in your hand
  • Fast drying time
  • Not dual voltage
  • Comes with no attachments

5. Panasonic Hair Dryer Ionity EH-NE48-W

The Panasonic EH-NE48-W comes in white with a unique design featuring ionic technology. The ionic technology uses negative ions to saturate the airflow, helping to condition, smooth, and make the hair shiny.

It also reduces frizz and static. It doesn’t infuse the hair with as much moisture as the nanoe dryers, but if you have trouble getting volume in your hair, especially for very fine hair, this is an excellent alternative.

This Panasonic hair dryer is very lightweight, weighing just one pound. It’s also compact and has a folding handle, so it’s ideal for travel. It comes with a removable nozzle attachment. And it runs on 1,200 watts of power. It also comes with three speed/heat settings.

One complaint about this dryer is that its design is for use with 100V, not the standard American 120V. So it can be a fire hazard if you don’t use a voltage converter.

  • Great price
  • Lightweight and compact, great for travel
  • Ionic technology makes hair shiny and smooth
  • You need to use a voltage converter in the U.S.
  • Doesn’t come with nanoe technology
  • Difficult to clean

Here’s how the Panasonic dryers stack up to two of our other favorites.

This John Frieda dryer comes with two heat settings and a cool setting. And it comes with ionic technology which makes your hair shiny and cuts down on frizz.

  • Ceramic technology offers even heat distribution & negative ions reduce static electricity for healthy shiny hair.
  • Great for all hair types including thick & coarse hair, this blow dryer helps reveal shiny, healthy-looking hair.

The BaBylissPRO Ceramix Xtreme Dryer is one of the top dryers of 2018. This dryer combines technology with power. It runs on 2,000 watts of energy, making it stronger than any of the Panasonic dryers. And it uses far-infrared heat, which protects the hair from damage.

The BaBylissPRO is very lightweight, weighing just one pound. And it comes with two temperature settings and a cool shot button. It also comes with a concentrating attachment for easy styling. To make it easy to clean, it comes with a detachable rear filter. But the large size of this dryer makes it too bulky for travel.

  • Extremely powerful
  • Removable rear filter
  • Technology
  • Can be difficult to adjust settings
  • Bulky size

Remington D3190 Hair Dryer

The Remington D3190 Hair Dryer is an excellent lightweight dryer. This is a low-cost dryer that packs a punch and uses ionic technology to dry hair faster with less frizz. And it’s stronger than most of the Panasonic dryers with a 1,875-watt motor.

This Remington dryer comes with two attachments: a concentrator and a diffuser. There’s a lot to love about this dryer. It’s very inexpensive, but it still comes with ionic technology. This dryer also uses far-infrared heat which protects the hair.

  • Technologically advanced
  • Great price
  • Quick drying time
  • Issues with temperature control
  • The diffuser can fall off easily

Of the seven hair dryers we reviewed, our top picks are the Panasonic Nanoe Hair Dryer EH-NA65-K and the BaBylissPRO Ceramix Xtreme Dryer. Most of the Panasonic dryers on our list use the nanoe technology, which not only moisturizes your hair while you dry but also smooths and shines and cuts down on static and frizz.

The downside is that the best Panasonic dryers are more expensive than other dryers. It also can be tricky figuring out the voltage on the Panasonic hair dryers because they make them outside of the United States. Overall we give the Panasonic hair dryer high marks. The incredible technology outweighs the higher price tag.
