Life can be repetitive and boring. You get worn down with the same old routine every single day. It gets to the point where you just want to look presentable.
You also end up looking the same every day.
It’s a rut most of us just can’t seem to get out of. That kind of repetition won’t exactly make you feel inspired.
It might feel like a stretch. How could a hair makeover make you feel any different? After all, changing your hair doesn’t mean anything else has changed, right?

The Benefits of Having Fabulous Healthy Hair
Everyone wants perfect hair.
There is a problem though.
We focus on constantly changing. We want a new hair color and a dramatic cut. Those are the things that are going to grab peoples attention. That’s how we stand out in a crowd.

However, we are forgetting along the way that our hair can look amazing on its own.
We just need to take care of it.
And people are going to notice how lovely your hair is if it looks and feels healthy. It’s noticeable because so many people don’t have healthy hair.
So what qualifies as “healthy hair”?
The characteristics aren’t hard to spot:
If your hair is strong, manageable and shiny, you’re doing something right.
Taking a break from changing our hair is going to open the door to new things and cut down on maintenance.
Instead of ruining our hair and trying to bring it back to life, we should be keeping it in good shape in the first place.
The truth is, when you have healthy hair you won’t have to worry about it being dry and frizzy. You won’t need as many products to make it look nice. Plus, getting ready is going to be a breeze.
That doesn’t mean that you should never change your hair, but we need to be much smarter about it.
Bleaching your hair three times in a row and posting a “bleach fail” video on Youtube is not the way to go.

You should know how to take care of your hair before doing anything drastic on your own.
When you decide to dye your hair at home you need to do your research and understand the whole process.
Otherwise, make a salon appointment and let the professionals take care of it.
Now, if you are more interested in making your hair healthier we have a few handy tips that will get you started in the right direction.
Proper Hair Care Is Critical for a Total Hair Makeover

Taking care of your hair is the first step in a total hair makeover.
You don’t want your gorgeous new hair to last for a day. You are going to want this to be an entirely fresh routine that will transform your hair for good.
Proper hair care is the most important aspect of that but you need to be diligent about keeping up with it.
There are a few steps to get you started in the right direction but hair care also depends on your current routine and hair type. It’s hard to find one thing that will work for everyone.
Each individual needs to figure out what they are doing right or wrong. That might even call for a trip to a professional for some advice.
Until then, we’ve got a few tips:
How to get a natural shine
Getting a natural shine isn’t as hard as you would think.
Our hair can actually manage a luxurious shine all by itself if we give it a chance.
More often than not, we tend to destroy the natural shine. Then we try to get it back by using more products.

That seems a little counterintuitive if you ask me, but I’m guilty of making this very mistake.
Frequent heat styling your hair will have a damaging effect and lead to dullness.
So minimizing this kind of damage is key.
But:
That doesn’t mean that you can’t ever heat style, you just need to be smarter about it. More than anything, you need to avoid doing it on a daily basis and start using protective products.
Heat protectant sprays and serums will make a huge difference. It will add shine, moisture, and keep your hair safe. It isn’t foolproof, but it is incredibly helpful.
Daily showers are another key factor in making your hair dull and lifeless.
If you think about it, humans never used to shower every single day. Our bodies naturally create oils that moisturize our skin and hair. They’re part of the reason we always feel like we need a shower.
These oils tend to go into overdrive because our bodies are trying to make up for everything we’re washing away.
It’s a vicious cycle.
Either way, if we let hair bodies work the way they need to, it can contribute to healthy, shiny hair.
If you have dull hair you should also focus on drinking more water and taking your vitamins. Your hair, skin, and nails are all going to tell you how badly you have been at taking care of your entire body.
Grow your hair longer and stronger than ever

You should know how to take care of your hair before doing anything drastic on your own.
When you decide to dye your hair at home you need to do your research and understand the whole process.
Growing out long, lovely hair is another thing that many women are chasing but few do the right way.
It can be a challenge.
As our hair grows it is exposed to so many things. The ends can become thin and wispy, so it rarely looks as full as we were hoping it would.
As you saw, trimming your ends to promote growth is just a myth, but it will certainly make your hair look full, even as it gets longer.
So make sure to trim a little bit as your hair grows. It will keep the split ends from getting severe.
Another good idea is taking a supplement like Biotin.
It contains vitamins that will keep your hair, skin, and nails looking good and feeling even better. It will also keep your scalp healthy, which is crucial for hair growth.
But if you’re looking for a way to really speed things up, consider trying castor oil. It’s one of those things that we all know exists and never seem to use.
It can be rubbed into your scalp to absorb overnight. It can even be applied to your eyebrows or eyelashes to make them fuller.
Morning Hair Hacks for the Busiest Women
Do we ever really have enough time to get all dolled up in the morning?
I suppose it depends, but I was never a morning person. So I always snoozed my alarm until I only had about 15 minutes to whip myself into shape and run out the door.
It was a marathon every morning.
Although when it’s always the same kind of rush, you do learn some tricks on the go. Hair is one of the most difficult things on the list. At least if you want to look put together and professional.

Fortunately, there is always a solution if you’re willing to get a little creative.
Styling your hair overnight
If you can, it’s always a good idea to style your hair the night before.
Many people don’t do this because their hair can look greasy by morning, although we have a solution for that as well.
Heatless styling is something that can save you time in the morning and save your hair from the constant use of heat.
You can avoid damage easily while still getting gorgeous curls.
Keep in mind that if you have thick hair, as I do, you might need to use a blow dryer for a little bit before letting your hair down. It won’t take nearly as long since your hair has been slowly drying overnight.
However:
If your hair is still damp when you let it down, the waves or curls you intended will just become frizzy and messy.
Dry shampoo
Image from Giphy
If you’re having a hard time avoiding a daily shower, dry shampoo might just be your new best friend.
To put it simply, dry shampoo is a mix of fine powder in an aerosol can.
It doesn’t sound like much, but all you have to do is spray it on like hairspray. The powder will absorb the oils that make your hair look greasy.
If you’ve always struggled with oily hair then dry shampoo is going to feel like magic in a can.
Keep in mind:
On your hunt for the right dry shampoo, you need to make sure you get one that will work for your hair color.
Many of them will work for all hair types, but if you aren’t careful they will show a residue on dark hair. Accidentally making your hair look grey might not exactly be the hair makeover you were going for.
Sea salt spray
If you can’t survive without a morning shower, you can still style your hair with ease. Sea salt spray is not well known or widely used, but it is a lifesaver.
Here’s why:
You can take your morning shower, gently towel dry your hair and spritz on some seas salt spray.
You can style your hair by twisting the strands. It will help separate different pieces and give you the perfect beachy waves.
It’s the kind of completely effortless hairstyling that saves time and still allows you to look super cute.
It doesn’t get much easier than that!

Ultimate Products for Any Hair Type
Finding the right hair products is going to take a little experimentation and practice. It can be troublesome but it’s worth your time when you finally stumble across the right one.
The right hair product will make your hair much more manageable than you ever imagined.
Tracking down the perfect product is the troublesome part.
But there are plenty of options:
The sea salt spray is one that will work for pretty much any hair type. Others take little more skill and practice.
Some great products include:
- Sculpting gels
- Styling creams
- Mousse
- Oils
- Leave-in conditioners
Many of them are best for certain hair types and should mention them on the package. Pay close attention to this and consider looking up videos that will help you learn how to use them.
The trickiest thing about using hair styling products can be learning how to use them.
If you use them the wrong way or apply too much you run the risk of making your hair look even messier than when you started.
However, when you get the hang of them it’s going to open up many more possibilities. Getting ready quickly will be a breeze.
Now, getting your eyeliner wings to match in a hurry is another story.
A Complete Coloring Guide for a Total Hair Makeover
If you are in the mood for a total transformation you are definitely going to need a new hair color.
Many people are wary about dyeing their hair for the first time. There are so many things that can go wrong.
It might not look the way you imagined it would and many people don’t want to take the plunge.
Although, if you’re ready to make a bold statement and go through a refreshing transformation it might be time.
Before you can take this next step in your hair makeover you have a few questions to answer. You will need to figure out which color you want and how you’re going to go about getting it.
Will you go to a salon? Color your hair at home? What kind of style do you want?
Image from Giphy
It can all feel overwhelming in the beginning, but I happen to be a veteran. I started out going to salons but it was so expensive I stopped going after my second trip.
Since then I’ve used everything from boxed dyes, bright vegan dyes, and professional brands. Most of my home hair dye experiences have gone well.
Although:
I have definitely learned from some mistakes along the way. It’s bound to happen when you’re learning on your own.
Outstanding color choices
The first thing you need to do is find a new hair color you have always wanted to try.
There are plenty of guides that tell you which hair color will go with various skin tones. They tell you what to stick to, what to avoid, and how you should do it.
If you are looking for guidance that sort of thing is a huge help.
On the other hand:
Maybe you just want to know your choices. When it comes to hair color, I want to try new things and test my limits. It’s more fun that way.
Just remember that choosing a color is entirely up to you. Don’t worry so much about what other people think of it. Try the colors you have always dreamed of and see how it goes.
Hair can be changed, it grows out, and everything you do to it is temporary.
Beyond merely picking a color, you will also need to determine what style suits your new look best.
These days there are so many different options, it can be nearly impossible to choose.
But remember:
When you are determining the style, you will want to take into account whether you will be going to a salon or doing your hair from home.
Specific styles are better left to the professionals, such as ombre, balayage, or highlights.
Box dyes vs. professional colors
Time for one of the biggest debates of all time when it comes to hair color:
Box dyes vs professional colors.
There is a lot to think about here:
Most people say that box dyes are the worst idea on the planet because box dye is a “one size fits all” method of hair color. They aren’t exactly reliable when you are shooting for the “perfect color.”
Let me tell you though, I have a ton of experience with boxed dyes and I love them.
Image from Giphy
I know, I know, how could I possibly love something when everyone says it is so bad for your hair. To tell the truth, there is a lot to be said for boxed color.
For one thing, it saves a tremendous amount of money in the long run. Every time I have gone to a salon it costs $60+.
I have very thick hair and hairstylists have to use two to three times more dye than they do for the average customer. So I also get charged extra for the supplies.
Then you have to decide whether you are going to get touch-ups done to maintain the color, which can turn into a long and costly process.
Boxed hair color is convenient because you can find it everywhere. Plus, they have endless color choices.
Well, they do cause trouble in certain situations:
For one thing, they don’t work well to lighten hair. It’s a gamble at best.
Image from Giphy
They’re supposed to lighten and tone, but I can tell you for a fact that you will end up with an embarrassing yellow-blonde every time.
Another issue is the fact that you usually can’t determine the strength of the developer used in a boxed lightening treatment. So it could be too strong and damage your hair.
Warn a professional if you have colored your hair at home.
If you have added pigments to change the color of your hair, they will stick around. In turn, that will always affect the way your hair can be dyed from that moment on.
So hairstylists will need to do their best to even the playing field.
Image from Giphy
Often they will have trouble lightening your hair, even using bleach. The pigment from boxed dyes won’t give up very easily and affect the new color.
There’s no question that going to a professional is a better choice for anyone who wants to avoid mistakes.
However, if you are willing to learn your way around the local beauty supply store you can use higher quality products.
It will require lots of research and a brave soul, but if you’re feeling adventurous there’s no reason you can’t give it a try.
Stand out in the crowd with bold colors
If you have always wanted to try an unnatural hair color, now is the time.
Bright and pastel hair colors are becoming more popular than ever before.
In the past, bright colors were reserved for the punk kids who were rebelling from their parents. My mom was pretty cool though, she would dye my hair whatever color I wanted without a fuss.

I know, I know, how could I possibly love something when everyone says it is so bad for your hair. To tell the truth, there is a lot to be said for boxed color.
For one thing, it saves a tremendous amount of money in the long run. Every time I have gone to a salon it costs $60+.
Although she always thought it would be a good way to get it out of my system while I was young. Since I’m in my mid-twenties with pastel pink hair, I’d say that didn’t exactly go as planned.
Bold colors will help you stand out in a crowd and make a statement.
A hair makeover is a remarkable way to express yourself. Bold colors might be just the thing for a massive change.
Maybe it’s time to live those childhood dreams and explore your options. However, you will definitely need to take your job into consideration if it is a factor.
Bright colored hair dye is also the least damaging hair dye out there.
It is often made with vegan ingredients that will not affect your hair in any way. I’ve found over time that if my hair feels dry or unmanageable when I dye it blonde, it instantly feels better when I add color.
Considering that is usually the plan anyway, it’s a huge bonus.
Dyeing your hair a bright color might not last as long as a regular dye, but it is certainly going to require the biggest commitment.
Many people aren’t usually on board for the idea. They think it is childish and unnecessary.
Everyone can have their own opinion, but your opinion is the only one that matters when it comes to your hair.
Tips for Using Styling Tools
It might not be recommended to use heat styling tools all the time, but they sure do come in handy. They also give you a surefire way to style your hair to perfection for any occasion.
Here’s the bottom line:
The only issue comes when you don’t use the right temperature or heat protection while styling.
There are basically four types of heat styling tools that are the most common.
- Blow dryers
- Straighteners
- Curling irons
- Curling Wands
Of course, there are also crimping tools or rollers, but they aren’t quite as popular.
No matter what heat styling tool you pick, you need to keep the temperature in mind.
Many curling irons and wands don’t have multiple temperature settings. They might have a high and a low setting, but we rarely know what the actual temperatures they are set for.
Some of these products are set between 125 to 425 degrees. Even being set for 400 degrees is incredibly excessive.
It is just hair after all.
Think about it, if you would touch the tool to your skin, you would instantly get burned. Even if you can’t feel it, your hair is burning just as badly.
So you should try your best to keep it at a low setting and only buy tools that have specific settings.

Transform Your Look with a Stunning Hair Makeover
No matter what season it is, a stunning hair makeover is going to make you feel like a totally new person.
Everyone is different and you should pick what’s right for you. Many people don’t want a huge change. They don’t want bright colors or a dramatic hair cut.
But don’t forget:
Instead of following the trends, you should focus on the styles that you have always wanted to try.
The nice thing about trends of any kind are the new options that they bring to the table. For instance, 2018 was all about pastel hair ideas and I was completely on board.
But that doesn’t mean they’re going to be popular in the future. Although I will definitely be experimenting with them for a long time to come.
Sometimes all you need to feel new and refreshed is a new hair care routine that will finally make your hair feel soft and luxurious.
There’s nothing wrong with sticking to the same look as always.
But if you want a complete makeover, you should go for it. Even if it’s three in the morning and you’re grabbing supplies from Walmart.
Sometimes you need to plan things out, but sometimes it’s fun to live in the moment.
Cheers to new hair and a new attitude. We hope you feel more motivated and refreshed than ever before. You absolutely deserve it, and so does your hair!
